Many of the accommodation options in the small town of Kasane, gateway to the Chobe National Park, tend to be relatively large and impersonal compared to the exclusive camps found further south in the Delta. Chobe River Lodge is a clear exception to this rule, a tranquil, guesthouse style lodge on the banks of the Chobe with just eight comfortable rooms, three of which are ideal for families. The agreeable, low-key atmosphere is further enhanced by beautiful, verdant gardens awash with frangipani, hibiscus and bougainvillea. Guests at the lodge can choose to stay on a half board basis and spend plenty of time relaxing, which is a great value option, or there is a conventional fully inclusive stay, incorporating guided river cruises and game drives in the park. In between safari activities and downtime admiring the gardens, there is a refreshing plunge pool, a boma and a thatched lounge and dining area, all perfect for rocking back and taking in the delicious tranquillity.
