Regarded for years as almost a rare “backpackers’” option for the Delta, Oddballs’ now offers very comfortable accommodation in a privileged, central Delta setting. The superb location just south of Chief’s Island means wildlife volumes and diversity will always be impressive. There are no motorised activities, with a focus instead on mokoro excursions that skirt the winding channels and swamps of the area. The camp employs guides from the local village of Sedibana, and you will be assigned your own personal guide on arrival for the duration of your stay. You can visit the village with them on request, and walking activities are also a speciality. Accommodation is in relatively simple but comfortable dome tents on raised wooden decks, with excellent views over the floodplains. There are rustic furnishings and an outdoor bucket shower with hot water, while the main lodge has a cosy bar, lounge, dining area and viewing decks to enjoy a sundowner while watching animals on the plains. We perhaps can’t guarantee the absolute stellar standards of service that you will find at Botswana’s most upmarket lodges, but the experience at Oddballs’ is authentic and you will see plenty of wildlife. Unpretentious and a little more rough around the edges than some, Oddballs is a great base for those with the often forlorn aim of keeping the Botswana budget down!
