Running seasonally on scheduled departures between May and October each year, the Selinda Canoe Trail is a fantastic itinerary that offers guests the chance to experience the Selinda Reserve from a unique perspective. The route navigates approximately 45km of the Selinda Spillway when it is at its fullest, paddling eastwards in modern Canadian style canoes to view the animals and birdlife that gravitates to the banks. Accommodation each night is in fly-camps with dome tents, communal bucket showers and bush toilets, with drinks and meals enjoyed around a roaring campfire each night.

Progress tends to be languid, so that participants can enjoy this serene experience at a leisurely pace and there is not a high level of fitness or expertise required. The itinerary guide is also fully qualified to lead walking safaris, and there will be times when the canoes are left at shore so that short walks can be taken in areas around the Spillway. A beautiful experience like few others in Botswana, the canoe trail also combines extremely well with more luxurious permanent camps in the Linyanti Wetlands.
